Drain-Mapping Project

Across Southgate, and the borough, there are drain/gully covers of cast iron which are pieces of ‘street jewellery’, at risk of being lost- particularly where there are new cycle lanes or road modifications proposed. In Southgate Green we’ve spotted several, dating from 1906 to the 1930s made by different companies. This could be an ongoing project to record these features which add to the local history of Enfield.
