Trent Park Museum

September 26, 2018 by admin

Over the past few months the Trust has been progressing with the design of the museum with the assistance of professional architects and museum design team and we are now at a stage where we will be shortly moving from work on the concept design to start the detailed design. This will require significant further financial commitment from the Trust and we are therefore looking to raise further funds over the coming months.

It would make a real difference if you are able to support us either by making a donation or by simply raising awareness of Trent Park Museum with your community, friends and family.

Railings

March 7, 2017 by admin

We are pleased to report that the refurbishment and/or replacement of the railings around The Green is imminent.

The historic white rails outside the church will be refurbished and repainted. Other metal railings will be replaced by railings which are more in keeping with the area and are hopefully sturdier than their predecessors.

Southgate Village Gates Restoration

March 7, 2017 by admin

Local volunteer Darius Hazelwood Horner, a member of Southgate Green Association, has restored Southgate Village Gates to their former glory. The works formed one of SGA’s local restoration projects.

Southgate originated as the “south gate” to Enfield Chase, the King’s hunting grounds. A timber lynch gate marks the southern entrance to Southgate.

The Gates stand at the corner of Cannon Hill and Alderman’s Hill N14 and had fallen into a state of disrepair.

The Christmas Tree

March 7, 2017 by admin

On December 21st, at very short notice, over 80 people including MP David Burrows, a number of small children and at least 4 dogs, gathered to sing carols around the newly planted tree. The vicar Fr Chrichton Limbert provided the words and led the proceedings, whilst members of Christ Church choir led the singing.

Carol singing around the tree is planned to be an annual event, and next year far more notice will be given.

Pinkham Way Site – Update Jan 2017

January 25, 2017 by Gary Pillans

The good news is that, following a public examination hearing in August 2016, the Pinkham Way site has been removed from Haringey Council’s Site Allocations Plan because Haringey Council could not justify its inclusion.
However, the dual “SINC/Employment Land” planning designation remains in place and the big push is now on to remove the Employment Land element.
Pinkham Way Alliance have recently responded to proposed modifications to Haringey’s Local Plan documents arising from the August hearing. They argue that as the Council has given no proper justification for retaining the Employment element of the designation, and since the site has remained undeveloped for almost 25 years with no proposal getting remotely near implementation, this element of the designation should now be removed. They also argue that as the site has borough wide environmental value, it needs to be protected.

The document submitted to Haringey Council is available below:
