We are pleased to report that the refurbishment and/or replacement of the railings around The Green is imminent. The historic white rails outside the church will be refurbished and repainted. Other metal railings will be replaced by railings which are more in keeping with the area and are hopefully sturdier than their predecessors.
Local volunteer Darius Hazelwood Horner, a member of Southgate Green Association, has restored Southgate Village Gates to their former glory. The works formed one of SGA’s local restoration projects. On December 21st, at very short notice, over 80 people including MP David Burrows, a number of small children and at least 4 dogs, gathered to sing carols around the newly planted tree.
